Dr. Obidjon Khamidov:  Co-Founder

Obid Khamidov
Obidjon is a senior international tourism expert. Currently the Vice-Rector at Tashkent State University of Economics, he is also a member of the UN's World Tourism Organization's Knowledge Network program.

Obidjon works on behalf of Uzbek artisans, especially ceramic masters, to obtain UNESCO grants and EU Tempus project participation.

After tourism studies in Turkey, Uzbekistan and Austria, Obidjon completed his Ph.D in tourism strategy and competitiveness at the Samarkand Institute of Economics and Service. He is a visiting lecturer in Rovaniemi University of Applied Science in Finland and is pursuing post-doctoral research in eco-tourism.

Obidjon formed Aziz-Shokhruh Tours in 2007, a boutique travel agency in Tashkent. In June 2012, this was renamed Steppe Journeys. He speaks Uzbek, English, Turkish, Russian, Tajik and some French and German. Obidjon has participated in many international and regional tourism conferences and is committed to developing Central Asian tourism in a sustainable and responsible manner.

Adil Akhmedov: Co-Founder and Sales and Marketing Manager

Adil Akhmedov
A graduate of Tashkent's World Languages University (honours in English), from 1995 - 1996 Adil worked for the European Union as a Senior Education specialist. In 1996 he joined CATS as a guide and tour coordinator,  accompanying tour groups throughout Central Asia.

Adil was the Liaison Officer for a Japanese NGO that provided humanitarian aid to Afghanistan from 2001 until 2004. After project completion, he handled logistics for various foreign companies.

Working as a freelance guide in Uzbekistan until 2008, he joined a major Uzbek travel company as a Senior Travel Consultant, developing original tours and building an extensive client base. His reputation is solidly based in his personal and reliable service.

Adil is co-founder of Steppe Journeys and is the Sales and Marketing Manager. Adil speaks Uzbek, Russian, English and a little Japanese. He has undertaken regular tourism programs with Uzbek Tourism. His interests include football, tennis and art.

Ulugbek Mamadaliev: Travel Consultant 

Ulugbek Mamadaliev
Ulughbek is from Ferghana Valley and is a graduate of the Tourism Department of Tashkent State University.

He also participated in the Erasmus Mundus 2014 -2015 program - hotel management- for two semesters in Thessalonika, Greece.

Ulugbek took the opportunity to travel extensively in Europe during that time.

His interests include marketing, soccer and travel. Ulugbek speaks English, Russian and Uzbek.

Dildora Najmiddinova: Financial Director

Dildora has been with the company since it started operations in 2007.

She manages all financial matters for Steppe Journeys, including coordination with government agencies, contractors and banks.

She graduated in 2014 from the  Tashkent State University of Economics, International Tourism department. She speaks Tajik, English and Russian.

Dildora enjoys designing, in particular interior decoration with a focus on flowers.

Mirzabek  Ruzmetov: Tour Leader 

At Steppe Journeys we draw on the expertise of outstanding guides to accompany your tour.

Mirza Ruzmetov is an example of the calibre of guide we engage. He graduated from the  Uzbek State World Languages University in 1999 and then worked at the Tashkent Law College as an English teacher until 2005.

In 2005 he began working as a tour guide, leading groups from all over the world. He speaks Uzbek, Russian, English and Italian. His professional expertise, his in-depth knowledge, gentle humour and his passion for his country have made him a highly sought after tour guide.

Mirza's interests include history, classical music and football. Feedback from Mirza's passengers is exceptional.  He works exclusively for Steppe Journeys.
