Passports and visas Your passport must be valid for at least six months after your arrival in Uzbekistan and/or Kyrgyzstan/Turkmenistan or Kazakhstan. Should you require re-entry permits to your country of residence, it is your responsibility to obtain them. Most foreign nationals require a visa to enter Turkmenistan and Tajikistan. Many western countries do not need a visa to enter Uzbekistan, however some do and must obtain an e-visa to Uzbekistan in advance through www.e-visa.gov.uz. In addition, most countries do not require a visa for Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan for stays up to 60 days. Please contact Steppe Journeys if you need assistance with visa arrangements to any of the Central Asian countries. Medical matters It is your responsibility to advise Steppe Journeys of any pre-existing medical conditions and/or disabilities that might reasonably be expected to increase the risk of you requiring medical attention, or that might affect the normal conduct of a tour and the enjoyment of other tour members if you are participating in a group tour. The tours include a lot of walking and standing in historic sites, often in the sun. Also, some of the hotels where you stay might not have elevators, only stairs, sometimes steep. Please bring a torch or flashlight because footpaths and roads can be uneven. Please note that Uzbekistan is a developing country and public toilet facilities may be basic. There will be no medically qualified escorts on the tour unless, by chance, a fellow participant has medical qualifications. But basic medical service in Uzbekistan is free of charge and your guide can call an ambulance to the hotel or take you to the hospital for a medical check. Service is free but tipping is welcomed. Again, trip cancellation insurance with medical evacuation is advisable.
